New: Beginners Yoga Course

I am so excited to announce I have a Beginners Yoga Course up in the Video Library! This x4 video course is perfect for those who are brand new to yoga and looking for a way to explore the practice.

The classes can be done in any order and repeated, I have included most of the postures and practices we do in group classes. These classes are for everyone, and the techniques and practice suggestions can be applied to your own personal practice or another group class.

I hope you enjoy them 😁

Class 1: Breath

Getting to grips with the breath in Yoga is often tricky when we first begin practicing. In this class we will take time to connect to our breath and our own rhythm, we will explore Ujjayi and linking the breath with our movement. We also practice seated pranayama.

The principals taught in this class can be applied to any yoga practice you do.

Class 2: Standing Postures

There are so many wonderful standing yoga postures, I have focused on a handful of my favourite ones that I enjoy in my own practice. We are going to practice in a dynamic and static way so you feel for yourself which best suits you and what you enjoy most. I like a combination of both in my practice!

Standing yoga poses are great for stretching and strengthening, but they're also fantastic for building balance and can be quite energising.

Class 3: Lying and Seated Postures

Lying and seated yoga postures are a great way to relax and unwind while still engaging your core and stretching your body. Seated yoga postures tend to be energetically grounding and focus more on flexibility than strength. Sitting on the floor creates a stable position to release and open the body with less effort and greater ease.

This sequence of postures would be great to do in the evening to help wind down before sleep. Also you could do these postures before or after a standing sequence to warm up or cool down.

Class 4: 15 Minute Meditation

“The real meditation practice is how we live our lives from moment to moment to moment“ Jon Kabat-Zinn

In this practice we gently bring our awareness to the breath, we simply focus our attention on our breathing—to its natural rhythm and flow and the way it feels on each inhale and exhale. Learning to pay attention to our breath is particularly helpful because it serves as an anchor–something we can turn to at any time of our day if we start to feel stressed or carried away by negative emotions.
